Payton - Lights Out!

This afternoon Payton was exiting the trampoline too quickly and landed face down on the ground, chest first! He immediately rolled over clutching his back and gasping for breath. I quickly rolled him back to his back and coached him to breath slowly and deeply and told him that "the wind got knocked out of him." His eyes then rolled into the back of his head and he was still for what seemed like 5 minutes [actually only about 3-4 seconds].

He came to and answered my question of "are you okay?" He answered, yes and then asked "what happened?"

He said he had a dream where he was sitting on a rock on a hill next to a road with trees around. A truck carrying a horse trailer drove by below him just prior to his coming to. I guess Payton's heaven has trucks and horse trailers in it -- LOL!

He says, "it felt like he was out for hours and hours and hours." He went on to say, "Dad, you could have least taken me into your bed and not left him on the lawn."
As if in the that four seconds I could have carried him to my room -- funny!

Anyhow, he is okay, but it reminded me of when I got knocked out as a kid by a broom hitting me in the back.

The story goes as follows.....all I remember is fighting with Amie over who was going to take bath first at Grandma Logan's and out of the corner of my eye, an upright broom was coming at me from the end of the hall high in the air. Next thing I know, Dad is carrying me into Grandma's kitchen as I came to [I can still see the light switch, weird].

Like Payton's experience it felt like I was out for a long time and I don't remember much about it. Amie, do you remember that? Thanks for fighting with me so as to get me knocked out!!!!

Kip remember when I knocked you out in your red bedroom upstairs and the gum came out of your mouth and we scared Grandma to the point of bringing her to tears? FUNNY!

Payton - MMA Sparing Champion North Texas

Weighing in at 87 lbs. in the blue corner wearing the black trunks trimmed with an orange belt - "The Redheaded Fury" from Texas, Payton Binggggggggggggghammmmmmmmmmmmmmm! [Read in Michael Buffer's voice for maximum effect].

Payton had his annual MMA Tournament for all 9/10 year olds in a three city area in North Texas. He competed in patterns and sparing.

Sparing is what he really likes most because he says "I get to kick people and not get in trouble." His favorite kick is the back round house kick to his opponents chest and head following by a combination back and a front punch to the chest of head. Wow, sounds scary....and trust me I have practice with him, and now that he is getting bigger, it can be a bit nerve racking. [Payton if you're reading this, don't get too confident, your Dad can still take you!]

Payton made it to championship round as seen in this video and did very well. The kid he competed against landed several punches to his previous opponents head -- as can be expected April and I were nervous for Payt.

Payton had a nice jump front kick punch for a point, followed by a front kick to the chest for another point.

Here Payton was screaming and lunging at his opponent.

Payton won 3 - 1 points and was awarded the first place trophy!!

Payt we are proud of you! Great job and excellent effort!!

All our love!

The "Ketchup" Post

A lot has happened over the past couple of months, so I thought would "ketcha" y'all "up". [Ok, so my creativity is lacking and "cheesy" at best, but its sure to catch your attention].

Just prior to Christmas last year, my parents, ALL of my siblings (+Shalisa, Jay, Bella, & Brynnlee) and close friends traveled to Texas to be apart of my graduation ceremony where I was awarded my Masters in Business Administration (MBA). I am so grateful for their support and especially for April's -- I couldn't have done it without you Honey.....you are my STAR! Here are a few pictures of that event........

April's birthday was next.......here is a picture from this day. For her present she wanted to go ice skating as a family.......

Christmas, as always, was terrific! As a family we are too blessed in our lives and the knowledge we have of Christ is immense. As a family, we add our testimony with yours that we know He lives and is our Savior. We had special visitors come to the house...I think Santa was scoping out his entry and exit strategy......

Abby and Ashlyn wrote letters to Santa (a.k.a. Satan)....we hope the right individual received their present wishes for Christmas. LOL!

Abby realized she had failed to add a few things to her list so she went to the mailbox, added some additional items by taping them to the envelope. We left it as is......I am sure the mailman had a great laugh.....we had to take a picture!
February brought Ashie's 5th Birthday -- she of course is cute as ever! She shared her birthday with Superbowl Sunday, so we shared the cake with friends at the annual Superbowl party.

April brought the annual Pinewood Derby race. It is widely known, at least within our family circle (Texas Bing's) that Payton is the 2-Time Derby Champion in his first two years in the competition. Several in the pack were 'gunning' for him and many were not bashful in stating that fact. His car, 'Thunder Bolt" ran the 48 feet of hardwood the fastest of any of his cars at 2.33 seconds, however, the competition this year was simply better. Payton finished in fourth place, however, his car did win the best paint job. He was a good sport, so we are proud of him.

Finally, here are some pictures from Easter. We invited two other families over to share the holiday with us. It was a nice day and mixed with General Conference. April and I appreciate the Apostles and Prophets -- they always teach us how to be better individuals, better parents, and better for each other. We are grateful for the opportunity to raise children in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We love each of you and hope all is well in the Bingham and White families.

All our love!

Spring Snow in Texas

Last night, on the eve of the first day of Spring, it snowed 6 inches. For those living in northern areas this would not be an odd event, but those living in Texas this is VERY odd. In the midst of the trees blooming we have been dusted by heavy, wet snow.

This afternoon Ashie and I went out and built a snowman. My only goal was to build a larger snowman that April had built with her last month when it snowed. When we were done the snow man stood over 6 feet tall, had chocolate chip eyes, an asparagus nose, and carrot mouth. Ashie insisted that real snowmen have buttons and since I didn't know where any were I resorted in the trusty black spray paint.

Kids Can Do Good Things

Monday for Family Home Evening the lesson was on giving to others that are less fortunate. After a short lesson on baptismal covenants and caring for another, we got talking about the recent events in Haiti and Chili and how the people of those nations had some very significant needs. We looked at maps and learned about these countries and where they were in relation to the U.S.

After asking the kids how they thought they might help we received ideas such as we could take some of our toys and give them to Haitian children, we could give some of our allowance, and we could sell lemonade to the neighborhood.

As we continued to talk, the idea of selling lemonade to our neighbors expanded to selling baked goods, ice cream sandwiches, and fruit punch drink from the LDS cannery (referred to as Celestial punch in our home). We discussed how we might get the word out and April and I accepted the assignment to send an email to our neigborhood. Here is what the email looked like:

Bake Sale for Haiti

Saturday, March 6, 2010 @ 1:00 - 2:30pm

Please come and purchase baked goods to raise money to send to Haiti.

Cookies
Brownies
Rice Crispy Treats
Fruit Punch

All proceeds will go the humanitarian aid fund for Haiti. Thank you for your support.

Bingham Kids

We finished up Family Home Evening spending time deciding on the prices for each of the items then Abby was assigned to make the poster with the details. Here is the poster that Abby made and they displayed during the fund raiser:

The kids set up out front of the house at the end of the driveway. They got off to a slow start, but eventually several neighbors came by and purchased items. Our neighbors were VERY generous most times giving the kids significantly more than the price for the items. All together the kids raised $68.26!

Tonight the kids spent time counting up the money for Haiti, completing the offerings slip designating it to the 'Humanitarian Aid' fund, then placing it in envelopes to be handed to the Bishop tomorrow.

We are proud of Payton, Abby, and Ashlyn! They were all very excited to participate and contribute towards those that are less fortunate. Hopefully the kids learned that even at their young ages they can do good things for their brothers and sisters wherever they might be in the world.

With love -

Funny Talk

Recently Ashie has had some funny "one-liners" that have caused April and I to laugh. Some we have corrected and others we have just shook our heads at. Enjoy!

April is pushing Ashie in the shopping cart at the grocery store and Ashie out of no where says to her mother, "Get me out of the cart you old woman!" It was all April could do to not laugh. Later in the day when April headed up stairs to get the kids ready for bed, Ashie yelled while running behind her "wait for me you old woman!"

The other night I was with Ashie up stairs in her room and April was in the study on the computer looking at our checking account. She shouted something up to me advising me of the balance to which I responded. Ashie who was on her bed looked at me suddenly and while holding her hands out to her sides said "I don't even know what you are saying, boy!"

If these weren't enough to make you shake your head, yesterdays quick one-liner was the icing on the cake. I took the kids to 'Donuts with Dad' at the elementary school yesterday morning before class. Ashie was holding my hand and as soon as we stepped foot into the school Ashie looked up at me while walking toward the cafeteria and said "Everyone is going to think you are weird!" I then asked her why and she responded "Because of your bald head!"

She cracks us up -- we are not sure where she came from!
