Campaign Season - Blast Off with "Payt the Great"

Payton arrived home about 1 week ago to tell us that his 3rd grade class elections were coming up and that he wanted to run for the office of class representative.

We were excited and began the campaign (I, Dad, was particularly pleased to see the boy wanted to follow in his old man's foot steps and serve the better good for his Wilmeth elementary constituents).

Having "some" experience in the field and having "somewhat" successfully maneuvered the political waters of grade school elections -- I (Dad) appointed myself as CCM (Chief Campaign Manager), speech writer, and head spokesperson for the grueling campaign week that lay ahead. April (Mom) was self-appointed as Head of Transportation (pertaining to the candidate and his supplies), Moral Support Lead, and Head of Speech Delivery (she insisted that he memorize his speech).

Friday the 12th was speech and voting day...so in addition to the exclusive use of the color 'red', our plan centered on a "timing" strategy to bring the fliers the day of the speech (so his constituents would remember him come voting time).

While Mom was at YW's on Wednesday night, Payton and I (Dad aka CCM) drew up our campaign slogan 'Blast off with Payt the Great' and created the posters (as seen above). Our campaing colors were red, black and white. It was a lot of fun! NOTE: the use of red is NOT coincidental, we are ALL definitely "red" in our house!
Payt's fliers were by far the best!
Thursday night we created his fliers and wrote his speech. We practiced several times and recorded it so family and friends could get a feel for this platform and agenda. [Payton asks that you kindly overlook the fact that he is rehearsing the speech in his PJ's....additionally he wishes to express that being in his PJ's should not represent a lack of ability on this part to lead the 3rd grade].

Friday morning he delivered his speech and handed out the fliers. We won't know if he won or not until Monday sometime. Win, lose, or draw we here are Campaign Headquarters are proud of Payton for doing this on his own, having the courage to stand in front of his classmates and deliver a speech, and for having the only platform that is truly electable.

There is no question in our minds that Payt's "plan" is on the 'right' side of the isle.

Abby "Pele" Bingham -- Soccer Star

Abby began soccer practice in late August with her new team, the "Chargers". The logo is displayed throughout this page. Their uniforms are striped baby blue and white with black shorts and socks.

She has scored a few goals in her practices and seems to really enjoy it a lot. Here are a few pictures from her practices.
At her game on Saturday they played the Bee's and well let's just say it was a good start for our team. Whenever Abby had a breakaway, she was very much into the game......when the ball was in the middle of lot's of kicking feet, Abby was in her coaching her teamates mode. :-)

Here are a few pictures. We play every Saturday through October 25th....lots to look forward to. Enjoy the pictures.

All is well in Texas! We hope everyone else in the family is doing well also. All our love!

School is in Session 2008/2009

Monday, August 25th the school year at Wilmeth Elementary began! This year was unique because we had two enrolled -- Payton and Abby. Abby was very excited to begin Kindergarten and showed no signs of nervousness. Ryan went into work late that day so he could make a hot pancake breakfast with Orange Julius. The entire family went to the school -- it was crazy as it appears that every other family had the same idea!

Here are some pictures at the front door before we left.

Everything went smooth at the school....the kids seemed comfortable right away!

All set, back in school ready to learn new things! Abby's teach is Ms. DeLorenzo and Payton has Mrs. Rarden. After Payton's first day he was reported as saying, "Mom, Dad, it's cool we get to be in the portables!" After Abby's first day she came home VERY excited with the news that McKinley Bryson (one of her best friends from church) was in her class!

A 3rd Grader! A Kindergartener! A 1st Year Preschooler! Wow, we are getting OLD.....but life is great!

Love the Texas Bing's

Wedding Day -- Final Day

Saturday morning we drove to Orem Utah to Mt. Timpanogas Temple for Brock and Katie's wedding. As all sealings go, it was outstanding a great experience. Grandma Bing took the kids for the entire day while we were together. Here are some pictures at the temple grounds.

After the wedding, we attended the luncheon at a great Mexican restaurant in the Orem area. Ted did a great job talking about Brock and it went well!

The kids rode the FrontRunner from Roy to Woods Cross with Grandma & Grandpa Bing. They had a great time......thanks Grandma Bing for having them the entire day, good memories were made and fun times were had.
That afternoon we spend getting the car and trailer ready for our haul back to Texas.

We left the next morning early at 6am hauling the piano that Shirley and David gave to us. We are very thankful for their generosity and it meant a lot to April to have our children learn how to play piano on the same piano she was taught on.

Wyoming was Cold!!!! Brrrrrrrrr

Here are the kids playin' hard at the hotel room......they were beat! :-)

Here are the kids next to the piano, it made it home safe and so did we. We had a GREAT time in Utah and are happy to be home ready for school to start! Can you believe we have a 3rd grader, kindergartner, and 1st year preschooler?!?! Neither can we....life moves at lightning speeds -- enjoy the ride!

Golf & Mr Toads - 7th day in Utah

Payton and I woke early to golf with Uncle Kip, Uncle Jay, Tagg & Gant. We brought back the good ole' days by going to Riverside. I am ashamed to admit it, but Kip beat us all......I know Adam, Kip!?!?

Here are some photos of the morning...it was a lot of fun!

Payt has a pretty natural swing...if you ask me. He loves golf!

As you can see everyone had a great time....it really was a good morning! Thanks everyone for taking time to be with Payt and I, we loved it!

We ate at the famous Burger Bar and had a Double Cheese Ben with a cookies and cream shake! It was great! Here is a picture for posterity's sake.

I tried to purchase one of their T-shirts, but they were sold out. You who live in Utah still don't know what you have....Burger Bar Rules!

That night while the girls (minus Ashie, she hung with the boys that night) went to Maria's baby shower, the boys went to Pizzeria in Ogden and then over to Mr. Toads for some mini-golf, arcades, and batting cages. Check it out, it was a great time! I only lost Ashie 1/2 a dozen times......April is lucky to have such a watchful and caring father for her baby.

I am kidding, I only lost her once....but it seemed like forever until I found her.....just kidding, it was like 4 seconds. :-)

Our seventh day in the books. April and I headed down to Bountiful for our early morning wedding in Provo, while the kids had a sleep over at grandma's house. We had a great day! Fun for everyone!

Day 6 of Utah Trip -- Fun with Cousins

Thursday morning we woke up at Grandma & Grandpa Bing's house ready for 3 days of fun. We rested in the morning, then went over to see Grandma and Grandpa Bingham for about 1 hour. It was a nice visit, we enjoyed seeing them.

Then we sent down to Maria's to see her house & eat lunch. We ate at Dairy Ann's and of course had a rainbow -- Mom's treat, thanks Mom! As was expected she had it decorated neatly (that is Payton's word)! We loved it and Nick has sure worked hard with all the beautiful trim work -- that is awesome.

Amie, Tagg, Gant, & Blake came over and we left for Kangaroo Jumpin' House in Woods Cross. The kids had a lot of fun jumpin around with each other. Check out these pictures.

Payton wanted to ride the train with Grandpa home from work, so we met Grandpa at the train station in Woods Cross. Here we are sitting next to each other donning our Wildcat perifinalia.

That night everyone came over to Grandma's for a bite to eat and another visit. Tomorrow morning is golf, and then Mr Toad's. See ya then!

Wednesday Ryan & April Date - Day 6 of Utah Trip

Grandave & his grandkids --
great memories being made!

So if you are expecting to see pictures of April and I on our date, you are going to be disappointed. Despite given the opportunity for some one-on-one time, we did what all parents do....thought about and spoke about our kids. :-)

(Ashie just prior to getting 'hooked'...read on you'll understand)

The kids had a great day with Grandave and Gram who took them to Burger Bar, then fishing, then followed by an evening at the Davis County Fair. Wow....talk about spoiled.

Abby is still talking about how 'easy' fishing is........there is nothing to it she says. She caught a reported 8 fish while Payton caught around 6. Ashlyn would not fish and when asked kept advising her grandparents that she was tired (her favorite response when she is asked to do anything that she does not want to do).

Sad to report that Ashlyn did catch a 'hook' on the heel by her sisters cast which caused a slight riff in the festivities....but nothing that a band-aid and a hug from Gram could not fix.

Enjoy the pictures and slide show (on right) of the day!

This is immediately after the hook in her heel......not happy!

April and I had a good day as well....lunch at Cafe Rio, dinner at Famous Dave's BBQ, shopping at Tai Pan how could life get better?!?! Actually, I could without the Tai Pan, but we still had fun!

Day 6 in the books.....great day! That night we drove to Grandma & Grandpa Bing's to stay with them for a few nights. Thanks Gram and Grandave for all the fun we had! We love you!!!
