Payton's Science Fair Project - Soil Porosity

Payton registered for the Science Fair Project at school and with the help of Mom and Dad decided to do some testing on soil from different places he has lived. He called his Grandma's & Grandpa's and asked them to send two samples of soil (1 from West Bountiful and 1 from West Haven). He obtained the third sample from our flower bed in good old McKinney Texas. He did some testing to find out which soil would hold the most water (soil porosity).....his findings were interesting. Have a look for yourself as he explains it to you, Professor Bingham a.k.a "The Mad Scientist":

Thank you Grandma/Grandpa for sending the soil samples......Payton couldn't have done it without you.

Tomorrow Payton turns his project in to be judged.

He wants me to add the results here, just in case you can't tell from the pictures or video. The soil porosity percentages for each soil are as follows:
1 - West Bountiful Utah Soil --> 50%, 2 - McKinney Texas Soil --> 47.5%, 3 - West Haven Utah Soil --> 32%

What this means is that the West Bountiful Soil can hold the most water between the three. Good news for Gram and Grandave but bad news for G-ma & G-pa Bing.....when the Great Salt Lake rises G-ma and G-pa Bing's house will be the first to flood!

Payton says THANK YOU for everyone's help!
